Skirts – Skirts Clothing
Skirts have become an essential item in almost every lady’s wardrobe. While only those with perfectly sculpted bodies should attempt wearing a mini or a pencil skirt, a full skirt is much more forgiving.
Although knee-length skirts are being spotted on runways, narrow pencil skirts and risqué minis are equally popular.
The House of Dior recently showcased Tilcara skirts inspired by couturier John Galliano’s visits to Argentina and Peru while Chanel has launched circle skirts reminiscent of the fifties era. The result: this season, skirts are satiated with sequins, beads, embroideries, lace, leather slashes, and fur trimmings.
Denim Skirts
Denim skirts continue to be popular this season. A perennial fabric, the durable nature of denim ensures that the skirt keeps its shape and fit despite being worn repeatedly. Brought into the limelight with the recent Bollywood film ‘Salaam Namaste’ where actress Preity Zinta flaunts her Von Dutch denim mini teamed with a red tank top, a denim skirt has and always will be a basic summer item while a longer, slim denim skirt is preferable in winter.
Marc Jacobs recently showcased his line of stretch denim A-line skirts with zipper pockets at front and single button closure. While denim minis flatter slim figures, a pencil-length skirt paired with a soft, feminine top is a great elegant option for those blessed with fuller figures.

The Mini Skirt
When people think of the mini skirt, often they may think ultra short. The introduction of the mini skirt is often given to Mary Quant, a fashion designer in England. Others credit this fashion statement to André Courrèges, a French fashion designer. There is no doubt that Courrèges designs changed fashion forever while Quant arguably liberated women’s fashion as the way we know it today.
In the United States, the mini skirt did not gain nationwide popularity until 1966-1967. Today, the mini skirt is shorter than ever.
As part of a growing trend, many women today are wearing these skirts with leggings or hot pants underneath to compensate for the length. Many women feel comfortable and look quite stylish wearing the mini skirt in such a fashion.
Some claim that the short length coupled with high heel shoes actually makes a woman look taller and thinner. Available in a wide array of styles, colors, and fabrics, this item is available in thousands of different styles. For the ultra daring, mini skirts are now available in lengths as short as 3 inches, and at that length, they may not even fully cover a woman’s rear.
